My Disney Lunar New Year 2024 FOOD REVIEWS!

My husband and I booked last minute tickets to the Disney Lunar New Year celebration at CA Adventure because of all of the amazing buzz on social media, and we couldn’t have had a better time! Our favorite feature of all was the San Fransokyo Square.

Having gone to university in the bay and watched Super Hero 6 in an SF theater when it first came out, this experience brought back all of the irreplaceable memories of my college days. It was even better at night, as shown on my IG reel! Definitely worth a visit.

The 2024 Lunar New Year festival is from now until February 18th, 2024. Be sure to get there early so you can see all of the exclusive characters, like Mei and Ming from Turning Red, and get first dibs to all of the merch! They sold out of everything by the time we arrived in the afternoon >_<!

We did, however, manage to snap a photo with the beautiful Mulan before all of the characters retired for the night! Without further ado, here are all of the delicious foods we tried through the Sip & Savor tasting pass. The pass costs $46 for regular guests and $43 for Magic Key holders. It affords you 6 food/non-alcoholic drink items from the food festival. We think it’s a pretty sweet deal!

1. Taro Vietnamese iced Coffee

RATING: 5/5

This was so refreshing, perfectly sweet, and absolutely delicious! If you’re a taro lover, the taro sweet cream won’t let you down. Just don’t chug the whole thing too quickly because Vietnamese coffee is notorious for being strong, and this Disney version is no exception!

2. Strawberry Milk Tea Macaroon

RATING: 5/5

Oh, don’t even get me started on this strawberry milk tea macaroon! The strawberry filling was both sweet and tart, making it so much easier to stomach than your usual overly sweet macaroons. The milk tea center was also a delightful touch! I loved this dessert.

3. Mickey Hot Dog Bun

RATING: 3/5

Not bad, but also nothing too special. If you’ve been spoiled with freshly baked goods from a local Asian bakery before, then this hot dog bun won’t wow you. Maybe ours was just sitting out for too long, but it definitely could’ve been fresher!

4. Kung Pao Bao

RATING: 3.5/5

If you didn’t tell me that the chicken wasn’t real, I wouldn’t have known! The taste and texture was identical to real chicken, making this a real treat. Although I’ve had better baos, this was worth a try!

5. Shrimp Lo Mein Noodles

RATING: 4/5

I’ve heard mixed reviews for the shrimp lo mein noodles, but ours was pretty great! It came out fresh and hot, the shrimps were not fishy, and the noodles were perfectly chewy. A delicious treat!

6. Mandarin Orange Mousse Cake

RATING: 4/5

Wow, what can I say?! This mousse cake tasted as good as it looks. Extremely soft and decadent with a pleasant citrusy taste that’s not overwhelming. A delight for your taste buds if you’re a citrus-loving person!

7. Pork Banh Mi Sandwich

RATING: 3/5

I’ve definitely had better banh mi, but this wasn’t bad for a Disney tasting menu. The size was miniature, thankfully, so we finished the whole thing without hesitation. However, let’s just say that if it were a full-sized banh mi, I wouldn’t have liked it enough to finish the whole thing.

8. Char-Siu Style Ribs

RATING: 5/5

Oh, this one’s a must-try! Even with my pregnancy food aversions, I was still able to enjoy these mouth-watering ribs. It was perfectly seasoned and fall-off-the-bone soft. Wish we could eat it again!

9. Mango Pudding

4.5/5

A lovely treat that tastes like childhood. I absolutely love mango and this dessert did not disappoint! While my husband finished the banh mi, I was busy downing this bad boy. Yum!

10. Tiger Milk Tea with Brown Sugar Boba

RATING: 5/5

Shocked? So am I. I definitely did NOT expect Disney boba to taste that great, but it was surprisingly awesome! The brown sugar boba stayed perfectly soft and chewy for the entire hour that it took me to finish this drink, and the milk tea was balanced and delicious. I want another one!

11. Yuja-Pineapple Cooler

RATING: 4/5

This non-alcoholic drink tasted like a cross between a Starbucks Pink Drink and pineapple juice from the Dole whip shack in Disney. It was the perfect ending to our food extravaganza!
